Diet usually means some kind of controlled eating in the modern day. However the word 'diet' comes from the latin 'diaeta' which means 'way of living'.  In thinking about our daily diet these days, we really do need to think about more than just what we eat to maximise our health.




In the last few decades much research has been done on nutrition and it is becoming increasing clear how this effects our health and well being. On the movies page you can find some movies that cover a lot of these issues. I encourage you to watch these, maybe starting with Forks over Knives. Below I have placed the latest healthy eating pyramid from the Harvard School of Public Health. Notice that plant oils, vegetables, fruits and whole grains are the main food groups and what you should be eating mainly.
